Regular Season Player Rankings (1-50)

By Chris Weber

1 Marshall Faulk – RB, STL
This is a no-brainer as Faulk has been the most dominant force in fantasy football for three seasons in a row.

2 Ahman Green – RB, GB
Green gets the nod over Alexander here because teams will have to pay attention to Brett Favre and his improved receiving corps.

3 Shaun Alexander – RB, SEA
He showed just hgow productive he can be last season. This year, his owners don’t have to worry about Alexander being benched in favor of Ricky Watters.

4 Kurt Warner – QB, STL
Easily the best QB out there, he will be the first non-RB taken in almost every draft. Be sure to get RBs in the next rounds, but don’t shy away from choosing this star with an early pick.

5 LaDainian Tomlinson – RB, SD
A great rookie season gets him into our top five. Has the right tools to anchor your team’s offense.

6 Jeff Garcia – QB, SF
Young QB also breaks into the RB-dominated pack at the top. He’s as solid as they come, and comes with less risk than many other star players.

7 Randy Moss – WR, MIN
He may be a headcase, but Moss has too much talent to let him slip away. If you don’t mind taking risks, pick him and enjoy the ride.

8 Curtis Martin – RB, NYJ
Always a workhorse, this slowly aging RB is still very dependable.

9 Priest Holmes – RB, KC
Stellar season propels him high up in any ranking, but can he repeat? We think he’s for real.

10 Peyton Manning – QB, IND
Question marks surround the running game in Indy, but the passing game is fine with Manning at the helm.

11 David Boston – WR, ARI
Boston had a great fantasy season on a mediocre team (to say the least), and should be able to keep up his numbers and help his team improve.

12 Terrell Owens – WR, SF
Owens will team up with Garcia and might be the safest choice at the WR position.

13 Marvin Harrison – WR, IND
Completing the first tier of WRs, Harrison has been a top notch player for years and can easily lead any fantasy receiving corps.

14 Ricky Williams – RB, MIA
The Dolphins will be happy with their new RB. Williams is a #1 back if he gets his head straight.

15 Edgerrin James – RB, IND
Last year’s injury makes him a bit of a question mark, but he was the consensus #2 overall pick last season.

16 Daunte Culpepper – QB, MIN
Running game should improve, and Culpepper should become even more comfortable with Moss.

17 Corey Dillon – RB, CIN
Every-down backs like Dillon are hard to find and are invaluable assets to a fantasy squad.

18 Stephen Davis – RB, WAS
Which Stephen Davis will show up? Let’s hope it isn’t last year’s… Carries in the new offense might be a problem area.

19 Torry Holt – WR, STL
Holt has to share receptions with too many other players on the league’s top offense, reducing his fantasy value, but he’s a top WR nonetheless.

20 Anthony Thomas – RB, CHI
Last year’s rookie sensation from Chicago has something to prove.

21 Donovan McNabb – QB, PHI
There’s still no every-down back in Philadelphia, so expect McNabb to get lots of yardage on the ground once again, improving his value even more.

22 Brett Favre – QB, GB
Favre won’t dominate the league as he once did, but remains a solid choice.

23 Rich Gannon – QB, OAK
The Cannon won’t play six more seasons, but he has enough poise for at least one more very good campaign.

24 Eddie George – RB, TEN
New lead-blocker should help George prove he’s not washed out yet.

25 Rod Smith – WR, DEN
Return of McCaffrey should help lessen defenses’ focus on Smith.

26 Garrison Hearst – RB, SF
As #1 back of the Niners squad, he would be a nice fit if you missed out on the top RBs.

27 Isaac Bruce – WR, STL
Bruce might not be the #1 receiver in St. Louis but could fill that role on your team.

28 Jimmy Smith – WR, JAC
Evergreen continues to shine. Think he could get a contract for six seasons like Gannon?

29 Joe Horn – WR, NO
Blossomed into a top receiver and is here to stay.

30 Aaron Brooks – QB, NO
Young and hungry team nucleus ensures Brooks of a top spot.

31 Deuce McAllister – RB, NO
Well-balanced offense now relies on McAllister and he’ll prove his worth.

32 Michael Bennett – RB, MIN
A rough season behind him, he should improve and (almost) live up to last year’s expectations.

33 Tony Gonzalez – TE, KC
Is he worth a WR’s money? We know he’s worth a WR’s draft position!

34 Drew Bledsoe – QB, BUF
Bledsoe may not win another ring in Buffalo, but on the other hand he’ll be hungry to prove he’s not made to be a backup.

35 Tiki Barber – RB, NYG
This guy has lots of talent, but sharing touches never helps in fantasy football.

36 Duce Staley – RB, PHI
Just when we thought he’d be healthy and get all the carries, Philadelphia signs Levens. We still expect Staley to be a solid second fantasy back, though.

37 Michael Vick – QB, ATL
Potential is unlimited, but expect a few rocky outings in his first full season as a starter.

38 Tim Brown – WR, OAK
Others call it age, Oakland calls it experience. Timeless duo of Gannon and Brown will show once again that old men can play!

39 Steve McNair – QB, TEN
He may not be a fantasy stud, but is still a solid choice.

40 Kerry Collins – QB, NYG
Another solid QB who won’t drop off too much behind the league’s elite.

41 Thomas Jones – RB, ARI
Jones will surprise a lot of people, preferably the rest of your league, with a solid season as the top back in Arizona and as #2 on your team.

42 Jerome Bettis – RB, PIT
The fare is pretty low this season so be prepared to get on the Bus!

43 Henry, Travis – RB, BUF
Look out for this young back to show the world why he’s the number one in Buffalo right now.

44 Brian Griese – QB, DEN
Question marks in Denver around receivers and backs, but not at the helm.

45 Freddie Jones – TE, ARI
Jones is simply the best of the rest at TE.

46 Michael Pittman – RB, TB
Has to split time with Alstott, but will still get enough carries to be a good fantasy choice.

47 Jake Plummer – QB, ARI
Could things actually be looking up in Arizona? Well, maybe.

48 Eric Moulds – WR, BUF
After a rocky start last year, Moulds again showed his talent and will once more make a fantasy owner very happy this season.

49 Terry Glenn – WR, GB
Favre will help Glenn shine even brighter than he did in New England. At least if he manages to keep his focus on football.

50 Charlie Garner – WR, OAK
Not garnering the attention he should get could make him a bargain.
