Week 13

This is a computerized ranking system created by Charles Budd and Steve Maluk (known in the forums as Buckychudd and Wesley Walker). Factors considered include 2003 performance of players and opposing defenses as well as the Vegas over/under and point spreads (to predict scoring). Players on byes are obviously not included, nor are players listed as “out” or “doubtful.”

Point projections are based on the following scoring system: 1 point for 25 yards passing or 10 yards rushing/receiving; 6 points per TD; -1 per sack or fumble; -2 per interception thrown.

More target practice for Trent Green this week as he looks to spread the ball around against a weak San Diego defense. Steve McNair was mysteriously left off Wednesday’s injury report, but with his calf injury we’d put him somewhere between questionable and doubtful – but, then, he is Steve McNair. Meanwhile, Marc Bulger’s mistakes are catching up to him – he is a good start only if your league doesn’t penalize for interceptions. Looking for a sleeper? Pick one: Anthony Wright or Doug Johnson.

It’s Priest Holmes and Ahman Green duking it out for the title of Most Valuable Fantasy Player. Look for the Padre to take top honors this week. Domanick Davis could make you remember why you picked him up off waivers and is a great start against Atlanta’s porous defense. Deuce McAllister, with his eight straight 100-yard games, and Clinton Portis, with his new-found durability, should round out a great fantasy week for stud RBs.

Torry Holt could make Minnesota’s secondary cry this week. The Moss brothers (they are brothers, aren’t they?) might be virtually indistinguishable as they both put up great fantasy numbers again this week. As long as Marvin Harrison’s hamstring holds he should also post another solid performance.

Tony Gonzalez and Shannon Sharpe could put up WR-like numbers against some suspect secondaries this week. If Jeremy Shockey is able to play, he should be a good start against the Buffalo defense. Boo (did I scare you?) Williams is climbing up the rankings after putting up 110 yards and a score against Philly last week. The word on Boo is that he can’t block very well but, as the Saints were reminded last week, he sure can catch. He ought to receive his share of the looks with Ernie Conwell out and Joe Horn apparently slowed by a lingering knee injury.
