It seems like only yesterday that we were holding our drafts and getting ready for a brand new season of football. But time flies when you’re having fun, and suddenly it’s December; now, we’re faced with another long, bleak offseason. Sure, the playoffs are yet to come, and they’ll be a blast to watch, but it’s just not the same when you’re not setting your own lineups each week and agonizing over whether to start Daniel Graham or Itula Mili.
So what’s a fantasy buff to do in the offseason? Here are a few suggestions…
Take care of all those chores you’ve been putting off. Take out the trash. Shave. Walk the dog (Rover’s been waiting).
Offseason? What offseason? The 2004 season is here, and it’s time to start preparing!
Buy a new shelf for all the trophies you won this year.
Catch up with friends you haven’t seen since September. Call your parents to let them know you’re still alive.
Make fun of the Cafe’s preseason predictions. Brian Urlacher the unanimous choice for Defensive Player of the Year? How much things can change in just a few short months. Once you’re finished laughing, you can also take a look at your own.
Play a different fantasy sport. You know: baseball, hockey, bass fishing…
Do something productive with the time you’d normally spend on fantasy football. Learn a language. Write the great American novel… Nah, maybe not.
Figure out whether Keyshawn Johnson is worth holding on to in your keeper league.
It can’t be over! There has to be football somewhere! How about Europe? Where’s my Amsterdam Admirals depth chart?
Call the government. Tell them you’ll be busy next November, and you’d like to cast your vote for president now. Then find out which candidates endorse individual defensive players.
Be on the lookout for the latest rumor that Barry Sanders just might possibly perhaps be thinking about maybe coming back.
Mock draft, anyone?
Do something phenomenally nice for your significant other. Don’t skimp on this – the brownie points you earn now will have to carry you through the season.
Join us for the playoff editions of Pick3 and Sweet Sixteen!
