This is a computerized ranking system created by Charles Budd and Steve Maluk (known in the Forums as Buckychudd and Wesley Walker). Factors taken into account include past performance of players and opposing defenses. Players listed as “out” or “doubtful” are not included.

Point projections are based on the following scoring system: 1 point per 25 yards passing or 10 yards rushing/receiving; 6 points per TD; -1 per fumble; -2 per interception thrown.

QUARTERBACK
So far, so good for Chad Hutchinson in Chicago. Trouble is, it’s awfully hard to base projections on just one game, so take this one with a grain of salt, and don’t bench Brett Favre in favor of Chad. The other Chad, Pennington, enters a streak of tough games, including matchups against New England and, this weekend, Pittsburgh. Don’t expect great fantasy numbers from him, regardless of the outcome of this game.

RUNNING BACK
Earlier in the year, a few shrewd voices in the Cafe touted Julius Jones as a potential breakout running back. Jones is finishing the season fast, turning in a string of impressive fantasy games. The Saints defense isn’t what it once was, and Jones should continue his upward trend.

If that huge new contract is any indication, it’s Marvin Harrison who the Colts feel is their most valuable receiver – just in case any of us thought it might be a Mr. Stokely or a Mr. Wayne. Harrison is primed for a big game against a Houston team that’s giving up more than its share of points.

TIGHT END
The toughest position to try to understand must certainly be tight end. At least it is in fantasy football. Last year’s studs are being consistently overshadowed by Antonio Gates and Jason Witten. But it’s anyone’s guess how these guys will fare next year, when they will both likely be coping with new quarterbacks.
