Week 15

By Charles Budd & Steve Maluk

This is a computerized ranking system created by Charles Budd and Steve Maluk (known in the Forums as Buckychudd and Wesley Walker). Factors taken into account include past performance of players and opposing defenses. Players listed as “out” or “doubtful” are not included.

Point projections are based on the following scoring system: 1 point per 25 yards passing or 10 yards rushing/receiving; 6 points per TD; -1 per fumble; -2 per interception thrown.

QB  RB  WR  TE

QUARTERBACK
Jake Plummer may have fallen off his early season pace a bit lately, but Kansas City has been allowing the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks in the league. This is a great week to plug Jake in. Billy Volek looks primed to inherit the Tennessee job permanently – he’s picked apart far hetter defenses this season than that of Oakland, which has intercepted just six passes all year long.

RUNNING BACK
For the second year running, Priest Holmes and LaDanian Tomlinson were both considered worthy of the top pick in fantasy drafts. This time, those who chose Tomlinson wound up making the better choice, thanks to Holmes’ season-ending injury. Given Priest’s injury and age, Tomlinson looks like the better option for 2005, as well. LaDanian faces a rather weak defense on the cold shores of Lake Erie this week, and should again be among the top fantasy producers.

WIDE RECEIVER
How can we not mention Drew Bennett in this space? He’s the hottest property in fantasy football right now, and Oakland’s defense is not likely to derail him. Randy Moss continues to fight through his injury and faces a Detroit secondary that’s been soft against the pass over the past few weeks.

TIGHT END
Todd Heap is finally up among the league’s top fantasy tight ends, a position we all expected him to hold from the season’s kick-off. Jeremy Shockey, listed in The Sporting News’ all over-rated team, hasn’t done as well for himself – this week, he receives another opportunity to test the theory that it’s against tough defenses that tight ends really excel.
