This is a computerized ranking system created by Charles Budd and Steve Maluk (known in the Forums as Buckychudd and Wesley Walker). Factors taken into account include past performance of players and opposing defenses. Players listed as “out” or “doubtful” are not included.

Point projections are based on the following scoring system: 1 point per 25 yards passing or 10 yards rushing/receiving; 6 points per TD; -1 per fumble; -2 per interception thrown.

QUARTERBACK
Daunte Culpepper is in a league of his own fantasy-wise, and now faces the Saints, one of the softer defenses in the NFL so far this year. David Carr and Joey Harrington have earned spots among the top ten quarterbacks for this week, as has Tim Rattay, who will look to exploit a Jets defense that is prone to giving up big passing yards.

RUNNING BACK
The Niners defense has not been sharp. Curtis Martin is primed to take advantage. Reuben Droughns and Quentin Griffin will likely split carries this week for Denver – which one will get the bulk of the work is a coaching staff secret at this point. Stephen Davis will return this week against a Philly defense that is much improved against the run.

WIDE RECEIVER
Looking at the teams which have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers (the Colts, Vikings, Texans and Packers), it seems it’s the teams who score the most points themselves. Otherwise put, scoring begets scoring. Big leads force the opposition to throw the ball. Three matchups stand out this week as being the kind of high-scoring affairs that will seriously benefit the wide receivers involved: Houston at Tennessee, Green Bay at Detroit and, most of all, Minnestoa at New Orleans.
