An Hour Before Kickoff

By Arlo Vander

‘Twas an hour before kickoff, when all through the league
Trade winds were blowing, with lots of intrigue;
The starters were set in the lineups with care,
In hopes that a victory soon would be there;
Defenses were chosen based on the spreads
While visions of titles filled owners’ heads…

But enough of butchering poetry – after a long wait, the new season is finally here, and it’s time settle down on couches and bar stools and enjoy the first game on the road to Super Bowl XXXIX, not to mention your league’s title. And with a matchup between the Colts and the defending champion Patriots on the schedule, the season opener should not only feature lots of action, but will have plenty of fantasy impact as well.

What will the new season bring? Even more parity? Even tighter playoff races? Even wilder touchdown celebrations? No matter what, it’ll be fun to watch events evolve.

So sit back, and drink in today’s game. Good luck in your leagues, and may all your sleeper picks be golden!

Arlo Vander has been counting down to the new season ever since the final whistle of last year’s title game.
