July Mock Draft

By Arlo Vander

This was a somewhat unusual mock compared with many we’ve been seeing this year: Peyton Manning didn’t go off the board until the second round as running backs dominated the early going. In that sense, this mock looks more like a typical 2004 draft than what’s rapidly turning into the norm for 2005.

That’s just one of the interesting details you’ll notice when you analyze this ten-team mock. A handful of players have seen their values change since this draft was held, but the tactics on display are so interesting we felt it would be a shame not to share this. Note also that rookies weren’t included in this mock.

As with any mock draft, the drafters’ preferences and team needs obviously play a role in their respective choices, and a player’s rank might therefore vary from what you might expect from a cheat sheet compiled outside of actual draft conditions.
