Since entering the league as a rare kicker drafted in the first round back in 2000, Sebastian Janikowski has always been a solid fantasy option, finishing with less than 100 points just once in five seasons (with 94 in 2003). This year, however, he might be due for his best campaign yet.
The Raiders pulled out all the stops to improve their offense this off-season, adding Randy Moss to strengthen a passing attack that already ranked eighth in the league in yards per contest last year, as well as talented rusher LaMont Jordan, who should finally give the team stability at running back.
The upshot of these acquisitions is that the Raiders now boast the best offensive roster the team has had in years, and should have little trouble moving the football, paricularly if Jordan proves himself able to shoulder the load as a starter for a full season. Look for the strong-legged Janikowski to benefit from this bolstered offense and improve on the 106 points he racked up last season. Keep him in mind when it’s time to choose a kicker in the late rounds of your draft.
