Peerless Price’s tenure in Atlanta was not a successful one. After catching 92 passes for 1252 yards for Buffalo in 2002, Price was expected to post 1000-yard seasons like clockwork for the Falcons and bring stability to an underperforming passing game. Instead, Price underperformed himself, gaining a disappointing 838 yards in 2003, and just 575 last year. Ultimately, Atlanta has to write off Price’s acquisition as a mistake. On August 30, the team released the 28-year-old receiver.
Now, Price has found a new home. After several days of speculation about which teams might be interested in his services (Philadelphia? New England?), Price has agreed to a one-year deal with Dallas. That’s an interesting decision, since it reunites him with Drew Bledsoe, the quarterback with whom he shared his greatest success.
Three years ago, the Bledsoe-to-Price combination was one of the most exciting in the NFL. (Fantasy owners fortunate enough to have had Price on their rosters at the time will certainly remember that campaign fondly.) Can the talented WR recapture that magic in Dallas?
Head coach Bill Parcells seems to think so, and who are we to question the wisdom of the Tuna? In any case, the Price is definitely right if you want to take a chance on Peerless: in many leagues, he went undrafted and can be found on the free agent list.
