Four seasons ago with the Buffalo Bills, Peerless Price was 11th in receiving yards, fifth in receiving touchdowns, and eighth in receptions. He felt he was a #1 receiver and didn’t want to play second fiddle to wide receiver Eric Moulds. Price left in free agency and went to the Atlanta Falcons; he was signed to give quarterback Michael Vick that all-important Pro Bowl receiver.
With Vick, Price, and running back Warrick Dunn in new-look uniforms, the Falcons believed they were a quicker, meaner, Super Bowl contender. Instead, Vick was injured in the preseason and the Falcons went 5-11. Price turned out to be a bust in Atlanta with only one 100-yard game in two seasons. He went from the #7 wide receiver in fantasy football to, “I wouldn’t play him in a 30 man league.”
Now, Price has come home to roost. In the off-season he signed with the Bills and became the #2 starter alongside wide receiver Lee Evans. Price, as bad as he has been, still has better numbers than Buffalo’s other options. For example, Josh Reed only has 1,699 yards and 6 touchdowns in his 5 year career. With running back Willis McGahee keeping the linebackers occupied and Evans spreading the field, Price is going to find some room to make plays. Price knows that he is no longer the #1 guy. However, being a #2 wide receiver isn’t that bad. Just ask Reggie Wayne.
