Sleeper Watch

By KC Chance, Fantasy Football Cafe Regular

Anybody want to talk about the Indianapolis Colts? Everybody seems to want to comment on the only undefeated team in the NFL. Will they go all the way without a loss? I too want to talk briefly about the Indianapolis Colts, particularly because they are directly related to my “Sleeper of the Week” pick.

I firmly believe a few things are going to happen this weekend involving the Colts:

1. The Indianapolis Colts are going to play horrible.
2. The Buffalo Bills are going to win in Indianapolis.
3. Anthony Thomas is going to be this weekend’s best fantasy football running back.

I know what you’re thinking, “Whoa, stop with the crazy talk already!” Actually, it’s not as crazy as it may sound. Let me clarify. Call it a case of competitive letdown if you will, but the Colts simply will not come to the playing field Sunday with as much aggressiveness and fire as they have shown to date. After having to maintain a state of razor sharpness to beat Denver and New England, Indianapolis is now back home and playing a “weaker team.” As a result, they will underestimate Buffalo and fail to execute on both offense and defense.

This lack of focus and enthusiasm by the Colts will result in the team’s incredibly bad run defense performing even worse than usual. Thus, the door is open for a big day from Buffalo’s running back – Anthony “A-Train” Thomas.

Thomas will be the Bills’ starter and feature back this week (and most likely going forward) as Willis McGahee sits out with broken ribs. Thomas is a very capable runner and his straight-ahead, hit the holes style will be too much for the napping Colts’ line to handle. Thomas has shown spark in seasons past when given the opportunity to get enough carries to get his motor running. Last week against Green Bay, after McGahee’s injury, Thomas went for 95 yards and a touchdown on twenty carries. He is an excellent play this week. Good luck!
