In a season flush with special team’s scores, return man extraordinaire Dante Hall is worth a long look on the waiver wire as he comes back from injury this week. Although Hall is a wide receiver, his true value comes if your league awards points for return yards and special team touchdowns.
To refresh the memory of any who may be new to the game, Dante Hall was not long ago Kansas City’s X-factor and set franchise and league records with his ability to find gaps in opponent’s special teams coverage. This last April, Hall was traded to St. Louis and expectations were high that the Flash Gordon reincarnate would return to his 2003 form on St. Louis’ “faster turf.” In the first five weeks of the season, Hall amassed an impressive 684 return yards and notched a touchdown before he was brought down with an ankle injury.
Hall is expected to play this week as the Rams travel to San Francisco, a favorable match up as the 49ers anemic offense punts an average of five times per game (third worst in the league). The 49ers have also given up a kick return score already this season.
KC encourages anyone with a sleeper idea to submit it to the Cafe for publication as the more names made available each week, the better for everyone interested. Her candidates are simply one possible player among dozens of available options each week and are selected based primarily on the upcoming match-ups or her whim that day.
