My sleeper this week is Priest Holmes. Hold on while I put on my Backstreet Boys CD and load “Rounders” into the DVD player.
I never had the pleasure of recommending #31 back in 1998 when he broke onto the sleeper scene in Baltimore, so I thought I would take the chance to do so today. I don’t know how much gas this old veteran has in his tank after rehabbing from a spinal injury (ouch), but after two years off he should be plenty well rested.
It looks like Holmes will get the start Sunday in place of an indefinitely injured Larry Johnson. Owned in 12% of leagues, he’s available for pickup on a majority of waiver wires if you need to replace LJ or have to find an extra back this week. His match-up against Denver’s astoundingly bad run defense this coming Sunday is as sweet as it can ever get.
KC encourages anyone with a sleeper idea to submit it to the Cafe for publication as the more names made available each week, the better for everyone interested. Her candidates are simply one possible player among dozens of available options each week and are selected based primarily on the upcoming match-ups or her whim that day. She posts under the name of latraffic.
