They’re here. The horrible bye weeks. Let the mad scramble begin. For those managers who have been hording starting running backs and quarterbacks, now is your time to shine. Use ‘em and laugh all the way to an easy week four win; then deal ‘em to enhance your team. Make the most of those aces in the hole.
For those managers who’ve been playing it fast and loose, and who have nothing but gaping holes in these two key positions on the roster this week, I feel for you. It’s a pinch, no doubt about it. Maybe I can help. Here are some players at each of the key positions who are out on the waiver wire (owned by less than 3% of fantasy leagues per ESPN and CBSSports) but have a shot at putting up some meaningful stats to get you through week four.
Running Backs
Musa Smith (Baltimore) – Smith is the solid No. 2 running back for Baltimore. He should get a share of the feast against Cleveland’s horrible defense.
Travis Minor (St. Louis) – Minor moves up with the Steven Jackson injury. I’m not sold on converted fullback Leonard as “the guy” to replace SJax. Minor has the speed and hands to make an impact in the void on a team the desperately needs a spark.
Quarterback
Trent Edwards (Buffalo) – Edward is in for injured J.P. Losman this week and facing the NY Jets and their 3rd worst pass defense.
Brian Griese (Chicago) – Looks like Rex Grossman is finally going to get the hook. Let the Griese-era begin in yet another city. He tends to start out red hot before tanking. Use him before the pressure of being the starter once again cracks him like an egg.
