What Do I Do Now?

By Drew Friedrich, Fantasy Football Cafe Regular

For all of us fantasy football junkies, this time of year can be pretty depressing. The fantasy playoffs have ended for most leagues and although there are still some NFL games to be played, it’s just not the same without your fantasy football team. So what can you do? I’ve found that there are several productive ways to fight Post Fantasy Football Depression, or PFFD as it’s called in the medical community.

A great way to combat PFFD is to stay active at the Fantasy Football Cafe forums. The Cafe forums are usually a pretty busy place over the off-season. There are lots of contests and very good debates. I actually enjoy the off-season at the Cafe better than the regular season. I’ve learned a lot more over the off-season and I believe I have become more knowledgeable because I stick around during the off-season.

Another way to get rid of the no fantasy football blues is to participate in early season mock drafts. Mock drafts are always helpful in determining player values for the upcoming season, not to mention that drafting is the most fun aspect of fantasy football. There are tons of sites on the Internet that run mock drafts every day. The Cafe also does a number of “slow” mock drafts over the course of the off-season. “Slow” mock drafts are run on message boards where participants are usually given a certain amount of time for each pick. They are a great way to pass some time during the off-season and hone your football knowledge.

The best way I’ve found to cure the post fantasy football blues is actually fantasy baseball. Crazy I know, but just bear with me. Surprisingly, it’s actually pretty fun! You get the same great aspects of fantasy football; drafting, trading, and lineup changes; just in a longer season. Don’t get me wrong because I love fantasy football, but baseball is a pretty good diversion through the spring and summer.

You can beat Post Fantasy Football Depression. This time of year can be pretty tough for all of us fantasy football addicts, but remember there are only 4 months till the NFL draft! You can do it!
