2008 NFL Week 10 Barometer

Most teams have played eight games and are halfway done with their seasons. The Titans can’t seem to be stopped and former leaders of the midway point, the Patriots and Colts, aren’t even leading their divisions. To be fair, the Patriots are tied for their division lead in record but would lose the tiebreaker at the moment. The AFC East continues to have three teams in the top 6 of the Cafe’s Barometer, but the NFC South just might be as tough of a division. Where did the teams of that division; the Panthers, Buccaneers, Falcons, and Saints end up in this weeks rankings?

After each week of the NFL season, several active Cafe members get together and rank the 32 NFL teams from first to worst. The Barometer is an average of the rankings submitted by these members. To maintain consistency, the high and low scores have been removed.

Carolina is barely leading a very tough division. It’s nice that this week they play a high school JV quality team in the Raiders.

The Redskins got destroyed Monday night by the Steelers and Jason Campbell threw not only his first, but also his second interception of the year. He’ll take the week off to hopefully regroup and forget.

A friend of mine in Philly told me Celek would be huge if he ever got the chance to start. This was in the preseason before the 2007 season. It looks like he was right, but it sure took long enough.

The Buccaneers scored with 24 ticks left on the clock and won in overtime to advance to 6-3.

The Bills have lost three of there last four and need to get their running game back on track if they want a chance at the division.

The Colts are nowhere near the team they have been in the past, but many rankers still hold out hope. They are 4 games back in the division and are barely sniffing a wildcard. They will need a good second half of the season.

The Saints needed the bye last week. Even with one of the best offenses in the league, they are at the bottom of their division and still banged up.

At 3-5, the Chargers are only a game back in the division. Crazy.

The Packers lost to a much better Titans team and fell a game back of the Bears. This week could prove detrimental if they can’t beat the Vikings in Minnesota.

With more experience and a better offensive line, Joe Flacco and Ray Rice could really make an impact in future years.

Brett Favre had a horrible game but the Jets still managed to beat the flailing Bills to tie for the lead in the AFC East.

The Falcons have really turned things around. Matt Ryan is a legitimate NFL quarterback and Michael Turner was an excellent offseason acquisition.

Greg Camarillo is really starting to solidify himself as a go to target for Chad Pennington.

The Jaguars are losers of their last two and haven’t had anything resembling a running game.

The Texans lost Matt Schaub for possibly a few weeks. Lucky for the Texans, the have a quality backup.

The woeful Lions were up by 10 at the half, but just couldn’t pull it out. Each week it seems increasingly likely that we are watching history.
