2008 NFL Week 6 Barometer

By Scott Fish

The NFC East continues to dominate the league. Nearly every one of their losses are against each other. They are 15-5 combined, but only have one loss outside the division. The Eagles were driving at the end of their loss to Chicago and time ran out on them, otherwise they could be unbeaten against the rest of the NFL. The entire division is ranked in the top 10 of this week’s barometer. Where did the rankers put your favorite team?

After each week of the NFL season, several active Cafe members get together and rank the 32 NFL teams from first to worst. The Barometer is an average of the rankings submitted by these members. To maintain consistency, the high and low scores have been removed.

To be undefeated against the NFC East is a feat by itself.
2 (3)upTennessee3.246543112
A strong defense and a good running game have this team undefeated. They have won eight straight dating back to last year.
3 (9)upWashington3.333254343
Clinton Portis is on pace to have the best year of his career and the Redskins have won 4 straight.
4 (2)upDallas3.752432454
It seems like if you get Felix Jones the ball at least six times he will break one of them off for a score.

“If you forgot why the Steelers gave Ben Roethlisberger $102 million, there ya go.” – steelersfan513

7 (11)upCarolina7.7676712899
The two headed monster of Williams and Stewart is giving teams trouble.

The Eagles got Westbrook back this week, but it just wasn’t enough for a win.
10 (10)upIndianapolis9.8161189871211
The Colts could very easily be 0-4 right now. Opposing quarterbacks have given them 2 wins.
11 (4)upSan Diego11.0912161211101110
With Chambers addition to the injury woes suffered by Tomlinson and Gates, that week 9 bye can’t come soon enough.

15 (14)upNew Orleans15.01115181616121913
The Saints managed to stop Adrian Peterson with 8 and 9 man fronts. Unfortunately, Gus Frerotte was able to beat them deep.
16 (12)upGreen Bay15.71213191817181315
Aaron Rodgers had over 300 yards and 3 touchdowns while in pain. Six different receivers had at least three grabs apiece. That sounds like the stats of a former Packer great.
17 (15)upJacksonville16.8221615159212014
The Jaguars one-two punch in the backfield had a total of 15 carries. That’s not going to get it done.
18 (21)upArizona17.01717121919161518
It looks like Kurt Warner’s gamble of not signing a new contract until after the season is going to pay off.
19 (17)upBaltimore19.32119212113132221
The Ravens took a 10-3 lead into the 4th quarter, but just couldn’t hold on against the undefeated Titans.

21 (20)upNY Jets20.02020172021192520
Brett Favre threw for 6 touchdown passes on a hurt ankle the week before his bye. He should be back to full health and ready to start firing again.
22 (24)upAtlanta21.31822232222221622
Michael Turner was the best backup in the league for a couple of years. Now he’s making a case for being one of the best starters in the league.
