4th and Goal – Show 10

By Michael Stephens

Buccaneers vs. Panthers

Welcome to 4th and Goal, hosted by Michael Stephens and Nate Davis! We’re now past the halfway point of the football season, but don’t think that means we’ll just start slacking and missing every practice like Brian Westbrook! Week 10 of the NFL season features many injuries, but most of them are meaningless, so don’t get too worried. Along with the regular montage of injury news and player updates, this episode also features all of your favorite segments like Cafe Talk, Would You Rather, Locks and Flops and Against the Spread. As our Twitter “army” continues to grow and the weekend e-mails keep flowing in, we learn something from our listeners each week: This week, we found out that even though iTunes officially hates us (for no good reason, mind you) that you can listen to 4th and Goal on a smartphone app made specifically for podcasts, as well as using the link (below) in the show notes! So, while we try to find a way to figure out why Apple hates us, it’s time to call your best play or hit the showers, because it’s 4th and Goal!

• Hosts: Michael and Nate

• Flea Flickers – an e-mail and a tweet!
• Trading Miles Austin for a top RB is a VERY good idea
• We sure hope you used your crystal ball and benched Jay Cutler!
• Wounded Ducks (3:00)
• Some Panthers’ RBs acting like another name for cats
• You weren’t going to start these WRs, were you? Seriously?
• Only two injured TEs this week, but at least they’re both “Out” and won’t leave you guessing on Sunday!
• IDP meat wagon – back to double digits here, but we don’t mean total tackles…
• In the News – Derek Anderson is BAD…and Michael and Nate get another shot at their Quinn predictions (8:08)
• Hot Routes – game balls to last week’s top fantasy performers (8:52)
• Muffed Punts – the games of the week, not-top-10-style! (9:50)

Philadelphia Eagles Minicamp

CAFE TALK (11:13)
• Four topics from around the Cafe that “need” our pro bono help!
• Which timeshare back will get you to that beach in Fiji?
• The lesser of three evils at RB2
• A flex question that was a mess a few weeks ago, but is an easy call now
• WR question…answer: start whoever isn’t playing the Raiders top CB!

• Last week: 4-1, a slight “downgrade” from last week!
• Which Boston College Matt makes the better week-10 start?
• Mendy versus another hot RB…does he deserve a nickname like “Mendy” yet?
• A safer bet at WR2 would involve not starting boom-or-bust Eagles receivers this week!
• He’s a %$&*#$% soldier!
• A Titanic effort will surely out-do the big-play Bolts D, right? (Make sure to check out Comm1680’s defensive formula if you haven’t already – its a GREAT resource)

• Last week we pulled our first-ever 6-0-0 on a segment (the flops, of course), but a 1-2-3 on the locks evened things out a bit…
• Three guys each host loves for the upcoming week – listen up and you’ll find out who they are!
• …and three more that aren’t worth a start this week – listen more closely to this part!

NFL Football: New Orleans vs Chicago Dec. 11

• Nate goes 3-2, while Michael can only manage a 2-3. Both guys still have flip-flopped records, with Michael holding a 3-game lead…
• Three picks against the spread – these are kind of ugly, but we got some disagreement and that’s what we’re shooting for!
• Two over/under props – the biggest line of the week as well as the MNF game (as per usual)
