4th and Goal – Show 5

By Michael Stephens

San Francisco 49ers Minicamp

Welcome to 4th and Goal, hosted by Michael Stephens and Nate Davis! We promise this week’s show isn’t just comprised of injuries, though you’ll have to make it almost nine minutes deep before you’ll believe it! On top of all that news we have a new section this week called “Diva Report” (guess who we’re talking about?), as well as all of the usual suspects like Cafe Talk, Would you Rather and Lock & Flops, so we can fill that insatiable need for fantasy football information going into week five. We have some listeners with running back situations we would all kill to have to deal with, no-brainer trade offers and a lot of competitive juices flowing in the picks Against the Spread, so be sure to check out this week’s episode! At one point (of maybe four or five), Michael will profess his undying love for Jerome Harrison too – it’s time to call your best play or hit the showers, because it’s 4th and Goal!

• Hosts: Michael and Nate
• 4th and Goal is brought to you by the Fantasy Football Cafe

Buffalo Bills v New England Patriots

• Flea Flickers – a new e-mailer with a live question…a big thank you goes out to the weekend e-mailers too; we hope we helped!
• There’s a time to capitalize on name recognition and that time is now!
• Wounded Ducks (2:22)
• Get me a 16 oz. Matty Ice, please?
• Many backfields are about to be cleared up…like skim milk…
• What is up with this “missed the media portion of practice” nonsense?
• IDP meat wagon – the ranks are growing every day!
• Diva Report (new segment) – We’ll give you two guesses as to who’s in here (8:45)
• Hot Routes – game balls to last week’s top fantasy performers (10:22)
• Muffed Punts – the games of the week, not-top-10-style! (11:58)

Cincinnati Bengals v Cleveland Browns

CAFE TALK (13:14)
• This week we dive into four more of your posts and do our best to help with difficult start/sit questions.
• This RB question isn’t as complicated as it might seem, we promise…
• A backfield problem we ALL wish we had!
• Benching your Texans just in time for a good ol’ Texas shootout? Sort of, but not really…
• Rolling out the welcome Matt, but there’s only room for one at this party

• Last week: 4-1; two great weeks in a row!
• Which fringe QB should you start this Sunday?
• Not just cause he’s from Michael’s Alma mater, but you might not be able to tell by his giddy inflection…
• Which Vikings receiver makes for a better WR3?
• Wacko for the “Stormin’ Mormon”
• Waiver wire defensive pickup of the week, with a caveat to TYE (temper your expectations)

AFC Wild Card Game: Baltimore Ravens v Miami Dolphins

• Last week: we were really able to turn things around, going 7-2-3 on our picks for booms and busts!
• Three guys each host loves for the upcoming week – listen up and you’ll find out who they are!
• …and three more that aren’t worth a start unless you play with at least 15 other people…

• Michael goes 3-2, but Nate pulls a big-time tank job. We’re still doing pretty good combined though!
• Three picks against the spread – way to make it easy on ourselves – a three-point spread is the max for these picks
• Two over/under props – the biggest and smallest lines of the week, with some surprising predictions!

• Thank yous
