Cafe/Fleaflicker Challenge: The Race Has Begun - 2 comments

Yesterday was a great day, as we had our first major saturation of pro football action this season. Some games went predictably (the Saints went nuts), injuries struck, and fantasy heroes were born. We also had our first amazing finish of the season, courtesy of Brandon Stokley. We’ll have a full recap of the day’s fantasy action later. Right now, I’m going to give you an update on the Cafe/Fleaflicker Challenge, which we discussed last week. Because I’ve had some requests to see the Fleaflicker teams, we’ll go ahead and post those as well. Remember, we’re taking your questions all week — send them to ffcmailbag@gmail.com.

You can follow the league action on Fleaflicker here. I’d love to hear about how our other Cafe leagues are doing. If you want to provide me with a one or two paragraph update on your league, please submit it to me via PM by Sunday night, and I’ll include it in each Cafe/Fleaflicker column.

Week 1

Four games are all but decided, and unfortunately, we at the Cafe are 1-3 in those games. Our only teammate assured of victory is bungle613, who holds a 33-point advantage and must only wait for kicker Stephen Gostkowski’s score from his opponent. In the other four games, the Cafe should be able to make up the ground. Flotsamnjetsam is up 20 but must withstand an attack from Zach Miller and Nate Kaeding. Mattb47 should have a win in the bag with a 55-point lead, but he’ll face Tom Brady, Vincent Jackson, and the Patriots D; luckily, he still has Randy Moss, who will presumably excel if Brady excels. My team is down 23 points but will receive a boost from LaDainian Tomlinson, Wes Welker and the Chargers D tonight, while my opponent is finished. Finally, a huge game from Antonio Gates could close the 20-point gap WaCougs faces.

Update: The Cafe was able to pick up another win besides the three we were projected to win going into Monday night. The scores (* denotes Cafe Team):
