Cafe/Fleaflicker Challenge: Week 5 Action

By R.J. White

Monday’s upon us, which means it’s time for another look at the Cafe/Fleaflicker challenge. Through four weeks the Cafe has 21 wins, while Fleaflicker has just 11, but that lead really can’t be trusted, considering it only took a month to build. Who’s to say that Fleaflicker won’t have tied it up by this point next month? Week 5 features one of the toughest byes to navigate, considering that the Saints, Chargers, Packers and Bears, all fantasy relevant teams, were off. Which side did the best job while not at full strength? Did the Cafe extend its lead, or is Fleaflicker on the way back? Before we discuss the results, remember that we’re taking e-mails all week, dispensing fantasy advice to those who want it. Give us a shout at ffcmailbag@gmail.com.

Week 5

Heading into the Monday nighter, seven of the eight games are in the bag. WaCougMBS, dream_017, mattb47, and flotsamnjetsam all scored wins for the Cafe, with Matt’s game offering the most suspense. He won by just 2.75 points, thanks in large part to the goose egg thrown up by Chris Cooley, a member of FF’s Team Ski. For Fleaflicker, Carbondale Chargers, Chase-N-Me, and Multiple Score-gasms all landed wins against the competition. The only game in doubt features the only undefeated team in the league, run by the Cafe’s bungle613. He has a 14.1-point lead and Thomas Jones in the Jets-Dolphins game, while his opponent Lob It Long will be looking for points from Leon Washington and Braylon Edwards. Make sure to throw some good wishes his way (unless your opponent in your own league has Jones!).

Update: The Cafe takes the final undecided matchup to move to 5-3 on the week.
