To some, this challenge looked all but over. The Cafe had enjoyed four weeks of prosperity to build up a huge lead heading into Week 6. The Fleaflicker guys chipped into that lead in Week 6, then took a big ol’ chunk out of it in Week 7, winning six of eight contests to shrink the Cafe lead to six games. That means Fleaflicker needs to go four games over .500 for the rest of the regular season, which ends in Week 13. Can they do it, and of a greater immediate importance, how did they fare this week?
Week 8
Three Cafe teams have been leading our side all season, with bungle613, mattb47 and flotsamandjetsam all posting 5-2 records heading into this week. Two of those competitors have locked up wins already, but Flotzilla is in a battle with Fleaflicker team Chase-N-Me for a critical Week 8 victory. Flotzilla has about eight points on Chase-N-Me, but with Chase featuring running back Mike Bell tonight and Flotzilla countering with John Carney, this one is far too close to call. Unless WaCougMBS can pull some 48-point fireworks from Michael Turner and Roddy White, the Cafe will have four wins to Fleaflicker’s three. The Flot-Chase matchup will decide whether we exit Week 8 tied or with an extra game atop our lead. Wish us luck!
Update: Flotzilla took the close matchup, while WaCougsMBS falled just short of a huge comeback.
