Cafe/Fleaflicker Challenge: Ring the Bell

By R.J. White

Heading into Week 11, the Cafe had a six-game lead on Fleaflicker. With the clock ticking, the Fleaflicker team had to make a serious move in the last three weeks to catch up from their early season hole. I’m happy to say, they weren’t able to do it.

Week 11

The two highest scores of the week ended up playing against each other, with the Cafe’s LS2Throwed coming out victorious with a three-point victory, thanks in large part to Matt Schaub’s 26-point performance on Monday night. In other action, Andre Johnson came up just short of earning Fleaflicker a win, and mattb47 received five points from kicker Kris Brown in a game that was decided by a smaller margin than that. With flotsamnjetsam’s 1.5-point victory already in the bag, the rout was on. Even the Cafe’s worst team (ahem, my own) had a huge day to pull out a victory in this deciding week of action. Big props go to bungle613 and mattb47, both with 9-2 teams and both leading the charge as the Cafe won this hard-fought Challenge.

But that’s not all. We have a playoff coming up (starting in Week 14) for the individual Challenge champion. The top three teams from each side will battle each other for two weeks to determine the two participants for the final game. The Cafe’s three teams have just about been decided, with bungle613, mattb47, and flotsamnjetsam tangling for playoff positioning in the last two weeks.
