Coach Sean Payton is expected to "keep his options open" and will not make an immediate decision about his future, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Sources tell the Times-Picayune that an offer from the Cowboys would be the only "serious threat" to the Saints. "There is no indication that Payton is unhappy in New Orleans or looking to leave the Saints," writes the Times-Picayune's Mike Triplett. The catch is that Triplett believes the organization would not force Payton to stay if he wanted to make a move to Dallas for family reasons. ESPN's Ed Werder reported Friday morning that -- barring a "total collapse" -- the Cowboys are unlikely to pay off Jason Garrett and chase Payton at a total cost of close to $50 million.
