Torry Holt - Worthy of my next draft pick? WHIR

Postby FantasySportsMaven » Thu Apr 02, 2009 8:15 am

I am in bad need of a WR and Holt is probably the best WR on the board, followed by Chambers, Gage, Jenkins, Camarillo, N. Washington and Higgins.
This is a new dynasty league with PPR.

I took Matt Jones with my last pick :*) and can't afford to take another player who might not even catch on with a team this year.
My other two WRs are White and Desean Jackson and we start 3 WRs every game.

Should I take a gamble on Holt, or go with someone younger who we know will be on the field come game 1 this year?

While I think Holt will be fine for hte next 1-2 years he is a top gap at best. I can't imagine he gets back into that top 15 category, best case scenario would be top 25 imo.

The problem is, at this point, you can't afford to have a missed pick. I would rank them

Chambers
Holt
Gage
Jenkins

Holt is good for a few but his giant production time is over. I agree with the last guy on the order.

Personally, I would get some young guys. Build now and win later. That is what I did in my dynasty league and I think this year (year 3) I am ready to win some big games.

Young guys = josh morgan, any giant reciever, douglas in ATL, to name a few.

Ugh! Is this a deep dynasty league or something? Maybe you are loaded at RB? Anyway, in a dynasty league i would definitely not go w/ Holt. Maybe Chambers but someone younger would be better. Look to make a trade for a better WR. good luck.

Thanks for the help.

This league starts 2QBs and 2RBs and 3WRs.
I decided to get a few good QBs and RBs and let WRs go.
Here is my current roster prior to this pick:
QB: Warner, Schaub, Garrard
RB: Gore, MJD, DeWilliams, Ward
WR: White, De Jackson, M. Jones

I might be able to trade one of my RBs for a top WR sometime late in August if Ward wins the job in TB.

Thanks again.

First off...i would have taken Chambers with the pick...but i think you are right in your thinking of trading later for a WR..
I also think you did the right thing where the QB,s are concerned in a 2 QB system you have to have at the very least 3 guys who are going to start...
I think you will be fine....
