I've never had such poor choices in my keeper league, but I've got to choose 3. We can keep 3 players for up to 3 full years with a 10% increase in their auction price. We'll have $150 total to spend at the auction. I think it's down to choosing 3 of thesee 4:
Schaub $2 (year 1)
Portis $22 (year 3)
Hightower $2 (year 1)
Bryant $5 (year 1)
It's always a challenge to predict who the other guys will keep, but I believe the unkept RBs will look like this:
Gore, LT
Brown, T. Jones, Lynch, Moreno, Addai, Bush
LJ, Grant, McFadden, Parker, Stewart, Wells
Benson, Lewis, White, McGahee, D. Brown, J. Jones, etc.
So I think I need to keep Portis. I'm willing to believe he won't fall off this year, and looking at past history in this league, an available RB1 could cost up to $50, especially with only Gore and LT available.
I'm high on Schaub. I understand the injury risk and the need to get a good back-up, but there's real potential for me to have three years with a top 5 QB at a real bargain if he can stay healthy.
So that leaves Hightower and Bryant. Bryant could blow up again like he did over the last half of 2008, or he could be the idiot he's been for the rest of his career. I pretty much wrote Hightower off when the Cards drafted Wells, but I suppose he could hold onto the starting spot in AZ and find the end zone a lot if he plays better than he did when he got the chance last year.
