COMPLEX question, WHIR 100% guaranteed

Postby broseph jacobs » Sat Nov 24, 2012 1:27 pm

THIS IS A VERY IN-DEPTH QUESTION, SO you can trust me to WHIR with detailed research and insight (which I always do anyways but I'll put even MORE effort into it for this). Thanks in advance!

I am targeting week 16 (our Super Bowl), hoping that I'll be one of the teams in it. I've been offered a trade that only makes sense if you look at my week 16 roster match-ups:

A. Rodgers vs TEN = great
J. Freeman vs STL = who cares; I'm rolling with A Rod
D. Martin vs STL = okay, but I'm starting him regardless
J. Charles vs. IND = decent; I'll likely start him
V Ballard vs. KC = great, but can I really count on him?
M Jones-Drew vs. NE = okay, but he should do well, right?
P. Thomas vs. WHO CARES he's unstartable
A.J. Green vs. PIT = bad, like really bad; his only subpar game this year was vs.PIT
D. Thomas vs. CLE = decent, but he'll line-up against Joe Haden. That's iffy.
E. Decker vs. CLE = GREAT
S. Johnson vs. MIA = good, but can't count on him right?
J. Witten vs. NO = good, but Romo in December = bad
V. Davis vs. SEA = bad if Smith starts, good is Kaepernick starts
S. Gostkowski vs. JAX = all day, baby!
CHI Bears vs. WHO CARES it's the Bears!

So there's an owner who's been offering me trades for 3 weeks for MJD. He just offered me Brian Hartline, and I am tempted to take it because of Hartline's week 16 matchup vs. BUF (very good, not fantastic). He's also offering Reggie Bush if I want him instead, but no thanks!

My question is two-fold:
A) why would you do or not do this trade?
B) how would you set my lineup for week 16? QB, RB1, RB2, WR1, WR2, TE, W/R

WHIR 100% for thoughtful answers (I always do!) thanks ;-D

Hmmm...what i see right now is
QB-Rodgers
RB-Doug Martin
RB-Jamaal Charles
WR-AJ Green
WR-Demaryius
TE-Davis if Caepernick starts
W/R-Decker or MJD

Personally, I don't like Hartline too much and think he's too inconsistent to be reliable in championship week so I'd stay put. You have two good options in Decker and MJD at your flex position so I'd stick with them. If MJD looks good coming off injury I'd probably start him. Decker could be started over Demaryius depending on who Haden covers. Good luck!

Wow, thinking way ahead. I would hold on to MJD if I was you, he's targeted to come back week 13 so that'll get him 2 week buffer period to get going. Highly expect the Jags to use the run hard week 15 and 16 if he's healthy.

Im not sure what percent MJD will be by then, but he will have been back for 2-3 weeks so it should be fine. I would not do this trade, I dont trust Hartline, he's only had one really good game

Line-up
QB-Rodgers
RB-D. Martin
RB-J. Charles
FLEX- Depends on how good MJD looks in his first two games back. If he isn't doing well/getting carries, put in Ballard
WR- Green(despite matchup, he is number one wr so you have to start him)
WR-Demaryius
TE- Vernon Davis
Please help me out here viewtopic.php?f=18&t=530598

The guy must really want MJD if he has offered 3 times...but sadly his persistance is for not. I would not take the trade, because Jacksonville has been dying to have their star back and will be getting him back next week it looks like which gives him time to get back into form before week 16. Hartline is up and down and MJD is a solid player week to week so i would not make this trade.

QB-Rodgers
RB1-Martin
RB2-Charles
WR1-Decker
WR2-Johnson
TE-Davis
W/R-MJD

Thanks for the help with mine.

I would not do this trade. I don't trust Hartline, and if this guy wants MJD as bad as he apparently does, I think he should have to offer more. As for the lineup, I'm surprised I haven't seen this one yet:

QB- Rodgers
RB- Martin, Charles
WR- Green, Thomas
TE- Witten
Flex- Decker.

If MJD comes back and is getting all the carries then he could be in consideration, but for now, that is the lineup I would roll with. VDavis is far too inconsistent for me, and while the Kaepernick hype train is in full effect I'm still taking a wait and see approach.
