Percy Harvin v. Victor Cruz

Postby taw856 » Sun Jun 16, 2013 11:24 am

Have one other June question as I'm tweaking my draft board (apologies for the multiple posts, but am glad to WHIR so there's that...)...

Percy Harvin has 4 seasons of 967 yards or less and 6 TDs or less.
Victor Cruz has 2 seasons of 1092 yards or more and 9 TDs or more.

In 15 mock drafts, I've only seen Cruz go ahead of Harvin once.

What am I missing?
A. Rodgers outscores D. Brees in ESPN standard scoring by 40+.
D. McFadden plays 16 games (but ineffectively for someone whose only problem we always assumed was health).
M. Lynch=not a Top 10 RB.
V. Cruz=Top 7 WR.
G. Tate=Top 36 WR.

Not a thing....I thought Seattle was a horibble place for him to land fantasy wise. Strong running team with a running qb. He have some big games but I'll take Cobb, Fitz & Roddy over him everytime. not once have I seen Cobb go before him. People get hung up on the name and not the game ;-D Nice observation.

Percy Harvin v. Victor Cruz

Don't know what everyone else is thinking but the change in team and having a QB that looks more dependable ups harvin a value. That said I still like Cruz just because he's still the rockstar of that offense. Who knows though. Wouldn't really blame anyone for taking either.

The main thought on Harvin is look at his stats when he had guys like Ponder at QB- they were respectable. Now imagine those stats with an even better QB. Potentially, theoretically, etc. they can top V. Cruz's stats.

You also have to consider a lot more though.. will Seattle force-feed Harvin the ball as much as Min did? Without AP drawing safeties to the line of scrimmage, will Harvin have as much room to roam? Will Wilson have as good chemistry with him as Ponder did? All stuff that can throw a wrench in the planning.

V. Cruz on the other hand is a known commodity. It's a question of whether you take the 1000 yards and 9 TDs, or do you take the guy who could do more. Seems most people like the allure of the unknown. Personally, I'm very high on Cruz and would take him.

(Since you said you're happy to WHIR, can you help me out?)

Cruz hands down. Percy is a streaky player already, now he's on a new team with a different style QB, i don think he will top last year's numbers. Meanwhile Cruz barring injury should be an easy 1000 yrds minimum and 8-10 TDs. I'll take that all day.
