Week 3 lineup? WHIR

Postby Jagster87 » Tue Sep 22, 2009 8:09 am

So I got pretty much destroyed in week 2, regardless of having Brees as my starting QB...but only because my opponent had C. Johnson and F. Gore, who had ridiculous games in week 2...if it wasn't for that!?!?! ugh...anyways, I need a little help figuring out who to play in week 3.

For QB I'm sticking with Brees, but the rest of my lineup gets trickier.

RBs (pick 2): J. Jones (vs Chi), K. Smith (vs Was), C. Williams (vs NYG), D. Ward (vs NYG), B. Westbrook (vs KC), L. Johnson (vs Phi).

WRs (pick 2): T. Owens (vs NO), B. Edwards (vs Bal), A. Randle El (vs Det).

Flex: pick one of the remaining RBs or WRs.

TE (pick 1): T. Heap (vs Cle), D. Keller (vs Ten).

I'm sticking with Steelers D/ST, and N. Kaeding as my kicker. I'd greatly appreciate if you can give me some advice, since I need a big win in week 3 after the tough loss I suffered this past week.

Post your link and I'd be glad to help in any way I can.

RB- tough match ups there, I would go with Kevin Smith and J. Jones, seems like Hasselback will be injuried they might to establish a run game ecspecially with Urlacher out.

WR- Owens and Randle El, Detroit is horrible, Baltimore has to good of a defense

TE- Heap

Flex- C. Williams, they are using him in the passing game too, NYG defensive line is good, tough choice.

I have PIT defense too, but i just picked up OAK off waivers for week 3 (vs. DEN)...im crossing my fingers they will put up better numbers than PIT because it is obvious they arent the same without Polamalu...

RB's - i would go with Cadillac at 1 (he is hott right now, and M.Barber and F.Jones torched NYG on the ground...TB at home, he should have a productive day...) Man you have a ton of RB's!!! You should trade one for a WR :) But anyways, i would play Westbrook if he doesnt appear to be too banged up on Sunday (as always with Westbrook's injuries, you may have to wait until game time to make a decision on him and your no.2 RB..)...if not westbrook i would go with Julius Jones...without Hasselbeck, they should rely a little more on their offensive lineman and running game...no.4 would go to LJ...K.Smith has yet to find the endzone, and i am just not sold on him YET....plus i like the WAS defense against DET offense...

WRs - Owens, Edwards for sure, yes BAL is tough but Brodie Croyle threw for almost 300 yards and 2 TD's no int's vs BAL week 1, and D.Bowe -their most prized passing target- scored a TD in the red zone... so if he can do it, so can Edwards - who historically does really well vs the Ravens - and Rivers just threw for like 400 yards against them week 2...i say play Edwards, he really hasnt looked that bad thus far...

and my flex would go to J.Jones (if using Westbrook) as he is more of a safe pick. If you want to shoot for the moon, you may want to give Randle El (if not using Westbrook) another shot at the flex this week...he is playing DET afterall lol...

TE - Heap

If you can help me choose 2 of the 4 WR's please!!

Kevin Walter - missed 2 straight games due to hamstring inj (@ JAX), Steve Smith giants (@ TB), Earl Bennett (@SEA), Lance Moore - minor hamstring inj - (@ BUF)...or if there is someone else that you think is going to have a better week than these guys which also may be on waivers?...i have to play two of these guys, and none look that promising....
Ryan/Flacco - Rice/Peterson - V.Cruz, St.Johnson, Den.Moore, Mike (TB) - Hernandez/Rudolph

RB: Kevin Smith and Brian Westbrook. If Westbrook can't go then go with Julius Jones.
WR: Owens and Braylon. Owens is a must start and the Browns are going to be passing a lot so Braylon should have a much better game than Randle El.
Flex: Williams. Not really digging the matchup but it's probably your best option.
TE: Heap.

Help with mine?

Thanks for the advice! :-)

Eirc, for your WR situation I would definitely go with S. Smith, since he's had a couple of big games so far, and seems to be Eli's most trusted receiver while his top guys are out with injuries. For your second receiver I would go with Kevin Walter. Moore is tempting, but NO spreads their offense too much to know who's gonna be their playmaker (asides from Brees...) each week. Even though Walter has missed the first 2 games, I would gamble on him. The Texans will definitely be passing the ball against the Jags, after the performance they put up against the Titans...and the Jags didn't look that great against the pass this past week. Surely Andre Johnson will be the main target, but if they get him in double coverage, I'm thinking Schaub will be looking for Walter. Good luck! :-)

RBs (pick 2): J. Jones (vs Chi), K. Smith (vs Was), C. Williams (vs NYG), D. Ward (vs NYG), B. Westbrook (vs KC), L. Johnson (vs Phi).

If Westbrook is probable or better, he should be a given but I expect he'll be Questionable or maybe Doubtful which makes things a little trickier.

Westbrook (if healthy)
K. Smith
C. Williams

WRs (pick 2): T. Owens (vs NO), B. Edwards (vs Bal), A. Randle El (vs Det).

Owens
Randle El
Edwards is like a diamond that has been stuck in to turd. He's a great player with absolutely no help around him.

Flex: pick one of the remaining RBs or WRs.

I'd probably go with Edwards for flex if you get points for yardage.

TE (pick 1): T. Heap (vs Cle), D. Keller (vs Ten).

Heap for sure.

Thanks fotr the help on mine.

Just like I will be monitoring Barber's status, I would do the same for Westbrook. If hes a go I would go w/ Smith and Cadillac @ RB and throw Westbrook in the FLEX. Owens and Edwards @ WR and Heap @ TE.

Thanks for all the advice guys, but now things just got trickier.

So I was able to dump of L. Jonhson, since I got way too many RBs and picked up M. Manningham, who's looked great so far as the Giants deep threat player. So now I need to reconsider my lineup. Here's what it is so far:

QB: Brees vs Buf
RB: Westbrook vs KC (Andy Reid said the injury isn't as serious as they had thought and feels pretty good about him playing on Sunday)
RB: K. Smith vs Was
Flex: M. Manningham vs TB
WR: T.O. vs NO
WR: B. Edwards vs Bal
TE: T. Heap vs Cle (even though M. Fabiano of nfl.com keeps saying to start Keller...any suggestions?)
D/ST: Steel Curtain vs Cin
K: N. Kaeding

Bench:

QB: Big Ben vs Cin
RBs: C. Williams vs NYG, D. Ward vs NYG, J. Jones vs Chi
WR: Randle El vs Detroit
TE: D. Keller vs Ten
D/ST: Falcons vs NE

I'm still trying to work out a trade to rid myself of one more RB in exchange of a top receiver, and if that happens I'll drop Randle El and pick up a back up kicker for when Kaeding gets the bye. Please give me any advice, since I need to win this week! Thanks :)

If Westbrook looks good for this weekend, play him. If not sub in Caddy, he has more upside potential than Ward and has produced the last couple games, so make sure to keep an eye out on this one.

Manningham looks good at flex, id def stick with this.

B Edwards and posed for a comeback, looked great last weekend I hope to see some numbers from hims this weekend, although the Browns really need another wideout or Edwards is gonna be facing double coverage in the secondary for most of his games. Unless Heap can take a little heat off him. TO and Edwards look good.

Go with Heap! Guy is a beast and has some major upside potential. Hell im trying to trade for him

I wouldnt touch anyone at this point, Keep Caddy and Ward together just in case.

Thanks for help on mine brother
