Draft Strategy

I am in a 12 person league and have the first pick and was curious about Draft order. Have to start QB 2 RB 3WR 1 TE Defense Kicker. Scoring is for QB is 6 pts for passing TD everything else pretty standard. This is the order i'm looking at let me know what you think.

1. RB
2. RB
3. WR/QB depending on whos available...if no top QB then wait
4. TE if one of tops still available
5. WR
6. WR

from there quality backups depending whos there
subject to change if there is a steal available

Where would you pick up defense and kicker?

Since your QB is basically scoring double what other leagues score for a thrown touchdown, that obviously puts weight into the QB position for the draft.

I would say go this way:

1. Stud RB
2. QB
3. RB
4. WR

OR YOU COULD GAMBLE AND TRY THIS:

I would post something about the value of the QB before the draft on your league message board, pointing out the 6 pts. per passing TD and how much you like the upside of Jake Plummer or somebody. (He has targets man!) You must be sure this information is DISCUSSED and your point is made.

THEN I would draft this way:

1. QB (Donovan McNabb) Hopefully they scramble for QBs!
2. RB
3. RB
4. WR

most of the lgs i'm in have the same pts for td's, and everyone still jumps for the stud RB in the first rnd. I like what you have down there. I would definitely go RB, RB and then the third rnd, I would either go with Manning/Cpepp...if one of those aren't there, go to the Stud WR. Manning will turn it around, and he's consistent. that's the kicker! he gets the yards and finds the TDs!! how else do you think Harrison stays atop the WR rankings year in year out.

if you have first pick then you have the 24 and 25 picks, pick ricky(or Tomlinson) first then with 24 and 25 pick a rb then Wr or vice-versa it dont matter. then with 48 HOPE a top 20 WR is there and with 49 take Another WR then with 72 take a QB and 73 take a DEF. so basically

In this league since your starting 3 wideouts I would prefer to sort a 3rd wideout and a backup running back before selecting my quarterback. The quarterback pool is pretty deep this year and you can still find a decent QB in the mid to late rounds.

get your starting qb in the 2nd-3rd round. i play in the same type of league where qb tds are big last 3 yrs and have made it to the sb 2x. also, what are the penalties for ints? this should weigh heavily on yer decision.If you can grab mcnabb/vick in the second go for it, gannon / j.gar 3rd. Otherwise continue to go for quality rb/wr until 4-5 rnd & see if someone like hasellback/warner is available. you must have a qb legit enuf to get 30+ tds or at least have the potential to do so. I also like the hyping qb to get rb strat, especially if you can get 2 studs.
