What is up with Rod Smith?

Postby Addicted to FF » Thu Oct 21, 2004 1:13 pm

Anybody who has seen Denver play lately-- Why have his numbers dropped so much. Is he being targeted? Is he so old that he has run out of gas already this season? I ask this because I did notice in his earlier games when he was producing that almost all his production was coming in the first half. It was like he just didn't have it in him to get open in the second half.

He is not the deep guy anymore. Lelie has been producing in that area. With the running game heating up and Woodson matched up on him last week he didn't get many looks. I have him also but am getting frustrated also. Look for a bigger game this week. Plummer looks to him alot on the short ones and the bootleg so he still has some value.

Been wondering the same thing myself.
I had him tagged as taking the receptions Sharpe had last year, but it isn't happening. Plummer has managed to get 4 TD passes to TE's I'd never heard of. Rod still has far more receptions than anybody on the team, and most of them for short yardage. Apparently, he just isn't the primary red-zone target that I thought he'd be.
