I hate Jerry Rice!!

Where does he come off wearing a retired jersey number! I know that Steve Largent "offered" it to him, but there's no way in hell he should have accepted it. Largent is a legend (our only legend) here in Seattle. Rice is at the end of his career. He'll only be here half a season. Did Joe Montana wear Len Dawson's # 16 in KC? I think NOT! :-P

Rice gets a huge :-t :-t in my book!

I kinda have to agree with you. He should have declined it for another to keep Largent's history untouched with Seattle. I wonder if he will ever just give up. He is ruining his legacy just like Jordan was doing by playing after retiring...

Blah.
Who's Largent? Never heard of him. What'd he do, run for 20 yards? You folks need better players players up there in raintown...

Bottom line, Jerry's a legend who's still playing. It was gracious of Largent to offer his jersey number, and even more gracious of Jerry to accept it. Largent should feel honored that anyone of Jerry's stature would deign to wear someone else's number, let alone his.

Enough of this shoulda/woulda/coulda retired-by-now gobbledy-gook, if the current wideouts in the NFL were better than him, Rice wouldn't have a job now. He's in Seattle because you guys NEED him. You should be happy.

just my 2 cents

it's a very tough call. The only reason why I wouldn't mind is because steve offered him it. I am a true bears fan. Yes it's not always easy to admit. If someone came there and wanted to wear walter payton's jersey i would set up boycotts in chicago. Trust me I am not a liberal but in that case i would. However largent was great and especially for being white but not jerry's caliber or even close.
Sorry you need him right now so take him with what ever # it is

I heard on 'Inside the NFL' on HBO Rice called Largent to ask him if he could wear 80.

not very classy, not very respectful.

Retired jersey means its RETIRED. Be respectful of your new home.

Rice should NOT be wearing Largent's #80. :-t

Jerry can wear any number he wants because will go into the hall of fame as the best receiver of all time.

Not to mention Largent feels honored by him wearing it.

Not to mention it brings an awareness of Largents career to a generation that in large knows nothing about him.

If both sides are smiling, then your opinion doesn't really matter.
