RB Curtis Martin is finally healthy after an offseason of rest. Though the 30-year-old back is entering his ninth season, he is confident he can keep up his blistering pace and run for 1,000 yards again. He and Barry Sanders are the only players to do it in their first eight seasons.

Coming off his third consecutive season of playing with serious injuries, RB Curtis Martin needed nearly the entire offseason to recover. Asked yesterday if the left ankle he sprained in the 2002 season opener is fully recovered, Martin said, "It's as close to 100 percent as it's going to get."

well, he got his 1,000 yards, but through 15 weeks has only 1 TD to show for it

1000 yards hasn't really been much of an accomplishment since the league went to 16 games. It's only a 62.5 ypg average. The league should really start measuring by 1150 yards, instead, but it's just easier to go by 1000.

However, it's a great tribute to Martin's longevity.
