Not so fast O. Smith-(UPDATED-He Signs)

Postby Jeff » Wed Jul 23, 2003 6:28 pm

I see that the Vikings work out Biakabutuka this week and were somewhat impressed. Tice was quoted as saying that the Vikes may be in touch with him later this week. Tice said that he liked the experience that Batuka had compared to the rest of the RB's on his roster.

I recall the dude being quite dangerous when he was healthy. I thought I remember him going for 2 80+ yard TD's in one game before.

You dynasty leaguers will want to watch this one closely because chances are that O. Smith will be close to the first pick in your drafts since all other RB's are probably protected.

Biakawhatever is simply camp fodder to push the young backs. He will not have any impact, whatsoever, on this, or any fantasy season. They're trying to get some leverage on Onterio to get him signed and this won't work. He has them over the barrel. I'm not saying he isn't gonna sign. Ii'm just saying he's gonna get more than they wanna give.

I'd be shocked if Biakabawhatever ended up on the roster.
The facts have no meaning.

Onterrio...

Postby massraider » Wed Jul 23, 2003 10:04 pm

I hope all the other owners in my league feel Biakabatuka is a worthy successor.

Onterrio is a better RB than Bennett was coming out of college. I'm not sure if Bennett gets his job back. Also, for a speed player, which Bennett definitely is, foot injuries are a very bad thing...

Just a ploy to make O smith think he is not indispensable.

Tim B was a hell of a runner for the Panthers 3 or 4 surgeries ago. But I'd be really shocked to see him suited up for anyone once the season starts.

Right. I wouldn't be surprised to see Terrell Davis working out for the Vikes after he gets released from the Broncos. Seriously, keep all eyes on Onterrio Smith this preseason. With that gigantic offensive line they have he could put up solid numbers in his rookie year. Nice mid-round pick.

Stranger things have happened (Terry Allen - Garrison Hearst). But I don't think a guy with his injury history should be thinking about a dome team. Then again, Minney 'now' has the biggest O-Line in the game.

Somehow you seem to have confused Tim B. with Barry Sanders.

To my knowledge, Barry Sanders is the only running back to run for 2 80+ yard touchdowns in one game. He did it against the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay. I beleive it was during is (CO) MVP season.
