Rush Limbaugh To ESPN

ESPN takes on Limbaugh
July 23, 2003

Rush Limbaugh joins cast of ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown.

ESPN wunderkind Mark Shapiro is programming Limbaugh as "the fan's view" (although most fans don't see a 600-market empire or $285 million radio contract in their lifetimes). El Rushbo will open with an essay, "then, three or four times during the program, I will choose when I wish to interrupt the discussion, dominate it, whatever."

Never mind if Berman can keep smiling through such bombast.
This is about attracting some of Rush's ultraloyal base, reputedly 20 million listeners weekly -- the same reason he once auditioned for the Monday Night Football role Dennis Miller got.

This is nuts. And, after the novelty wears off, will only
give Fox more viewers.
Who's making these decisions?
ESPN needs a serious gut check.
My 2 cents, anyway.

I agree Weasel he will be like another Howard Stern. Stern was practically booed out of Toronto went people got tired of the same old crap

Rush might be looking at the same fate the Stern and Miller both faced

I believe Limbaugh first started out in radio doing sports.
Seems like it was doing KC Royal's games (it's been a while since I've read SNL Al Frankin's "Rush Limbaugh Is A Big Fat Idiot").
But those days are lonnnnng gone.

Every time they try and "spice" things up, it fails.
Just give me the facts by someone who knows
what the hell they're talking about.
