Personally, I am thinking that Marvin Harrison is going to be elsewhere.... Manning is proving that he can do his thing with just about any WR... He's been lighting people up with Wayne and Stokely, and I just don't think that Harrison is as valuable to his team as the cap money he will demand... It's pretty obvious that they cannot keep Edge and Harrison with Manning's huge contract, and I am thinking that, of the two, Harrison has proven himself to be the more expendable commodity...

i agree with ya there Plindsey. I think they could find a quality wr in the free agent market or in the draft easier than they could find a stud rb like james.
Agreed... Not to mention, breakout WR's can always be found in the draft, but stud RB's are few and far between and usually take MUCH longer to develop.... Add to that the fact that Indy is probably looking at one of the last 4 draft picks this year, and I think Harrison's days as a Colt are numbered...
Bah, I'd move my post here if I knew how to without causing problems.
I'll just copy it in here.
I don't know if I agree there. Manning is a good QB, but even when Harrison isn't catching the ball he's important. He's going to draw the #1 CB for the opposition and probably one or two other guys when they are playing zone. This leaves Wayne, Stokely, whoever in single coverage that Manning reads and reacts to. Without Marv there, the defenses would be able to play more straight up defense and give Peyton some headaches in finding an open guy.
If anyone goes, I'd say it's the Edge.

I think they should keep Edge, but in reality, that wont happen. They really arent utilizing Edge well, mainly b/c Manning is very good and they have so much money invested in the QB. If Manning has any pull or say (which he obviously does) Harrison will be the one re-signed.
That's a tough call. Harrison commands a lot of attention from opposing defenses which frees up Wayne and Stokely. Take that out of the equation next year and what happens?
Hasn't there been speculation that Edge would want to back home to Miami? That could be a real possibility too. I'm sure Miami would be absolutely thrilled for that to happen.
To sign Harrison to a big deal overlaps your expenditures... You spend ALL kinds of money to get a good passing game out of the Manning, but the millions you are spending on him to carry the passing game is somewhat negated by the fact that you are also spending beaucoup cash on a receiver... Whereas if you spend the money on Manning and Edge, you are equally distributing your cash over both phases of the offense... You are spending the money to have BOTH a stellar passing game AND stellar running game... Signing Harrison to a big contract, to me, just seems like wasting money as you are already paying out the ass for a good passing game by signing Peyton to a huge contract... Does that make sense at all?
if it were up to me, i'd let em both go. rhodes can handle the running. manning can handle the passing game. they need to spend money on their defense.

Someone made an excellent point in a Vikes RB thread about dealing all the Viking RB's and building a D.
While the Colts can't deal Edge or Harrison they can certainly just let them go. I like RHodes alot and he has proven he can be a talent in the NFL. Wayne and Stokely are all very good WR's. I'm not saying it will happen, I just think it should happen that both Marvin and Edge go elsewhere next year.
Reality...they slap the franchise tag on Harrison.
