Daunte Culpepper #1 QB this season???

Postby fantasyfootball_tx » Fri Jul 25, 2003 11:31 pm

According to the "Fantasy Football Index" magazine, Daunte Culpepper ranks #1 for the QB's this year. Who agrees? Should he be picked over Donovan McNabb, Peyton Manning, Micheal Vick? Who are yalls Top 10 QB's?

it depends on how your league scores if they dont penalize for interceptions or fumbles then culpepper may infact be the best however i think mcnabb is the best out of all no matter what scoring format except for the afformentioned one.

If Culpepper cut down on his turnovers, he could finish as the top QB. But, I would rank McNabb and Vick ahead of him. As for my top 10 QB's, it depends on the scoring - but something like this:

1. Donovan McNabb
2. Mike Vick
3. Daunte Culpepper
4. Rich Gannon
5. Jeff Garcia
6. Peyton Manning
7. Kurt Warner (maybe)
8. Aaron Brooks
9. Brett Favre
10. Matt Hasselbeck

No shockers.

With all the news about Garcia's back problems, you could be right. If they both play all 16 games, I think Garcia puts up slightly better numbers - because he throws less INT's.

I would rate it McNabb, Manning and Culpepper in a dead heat. It is that close to call. Culpepper is in an offensive system that produces every year. McNabb not so much and is at the peril of the weather. Manning is great as always, but does it seem that his int numbers are growing every year? Garcia has that back thing, and Vick has to prove he can do it when it is expected of him. Put a gun to my head and I’d take Culpepper.

My concern with Culpepper right now is the running game in Minn. is up in the air. They need to get a Rb in place that can keep defenses honest then Culpepper will have some room.

Personally I see McNabb and Culpepper as the only 2 guys you can really name as the top guy.

Somehow, and I still don't understand why exactly, Manning's effectiveness has gone down year after year in terms of his INT %.

Vick isn't a guy that is as much of a threat passing as the two I mentioned for reasons of his gameplan, and that is to scramble and create his opportunities. There is talk about limiting his running and his desire to become a pocket QB. If you think he's got the talent to perform in such a system then go ahead and pick him high. Personally, he's the #1 guy on the board that I will let anyone else take high so that I can fill my RB positions. I think guys like Hasselbeck and Maddox can get close to to his total points total and they can be had rounds and rounds later.
