NBA LIVE 2005

Postby kanezfan11 » Sat Oct 30, 2004 4:09 pm

Last years game was a little too easy, even on higher difficulties. It always let you dunk out of nowhere and hit 3s. This one is similar with the gameplay and graphics, but they made it harder to double team the computer, harder to drive, and harder to get good shots up. Overall, it's still the same game just more features like All-Star Weekend with Dunk Contests and 3 Pt Shootouts.

I have both NBA LIVE 2005 and ESPN NBA 2K5. They're both good, but I give the edge to Live.

Anyone have thoughts on this game? Glitches? Likes? Dislikes? etc.

I bought ESPN and rented Live and so far I'm glad I only plopped down $20 for ESPN instead of $50 for Live. To me they are basically the same. I give Live the edge for fun factor because of Slam Dunk contest and 3 point shootout. But the graphics on ESPN are simply superb.

I am really digging 24/7 mode on ESPN. It's alot like NBA Street and that is a great game.

If you want a lot of extra stuff to mess around with, go with Live, but if you want excellent graphics and just plain basketball, go with ESPN.

You got ripped, No1. It's $20 for both the PS2 and Xbox.

I think he meant NBA Live is 40$ for the XBox which it is ;-)

Eh... I'm an idiot. $20 is still significant, though.

of course it is... and both games scored pretty much evenly on EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly... yes, I subscribe. What can i say...? I game.). But does the fun factor of Live outweigh the graphics/$20 cheaper part of ESPN?

It really just depends on what you like to do, I'm more into actually playing the games rather than all the Slam Dunk stuff so I went with ESPN. Besides I have a PS2 so there was a $30 difference.

Eventually All Star Weekend will get old, and it will come to gameplay. I haven't played Live, but Gamepro said it wasn't on par with ESPN.

Live is solid. I saw ESPN for $20 at Walmart -- which when I see that for a new game, I kinda think it'll suck.

Might go rent ESPN.
