Should I drop Hasselbeck?

Postby gtgrad95 » Wed Nov 03, 2004 10:44 am

Ok, is it time to give up on him now? My backup is Drew Brees and he's been tearing it up of late and has a soft schedule down the stretch. Plus, all his receivers are banged up or serving a suspension and Alexander is going to get the ball like 100 times a game.

Whoa, that's drastic talk. I'm impressed with Mr. Brees but I am still not going to recommend tossing away a quality QB like Hass. I'd say keep Hass on the bench as a supreme backup in case Brees gets hurt or cools off. Or better, yet keep him for the good matchups - like this week against SF. Hass should be on fire.
Thank God for Football Season.

If they get up on SF with a pretty good lead (and by if, I mean when) they'll probably run Shaun Alexander into the ground. Which I don't mind, since the only team I have Hass on, I also have Alexander ;-)

Let's just hope he can dump off another TD pass to Alexander to double the points ;-D

I wouldnt drop him. You may want to start Brees over Hasselback this week due to his matchup, but Hasselback will have some good games ahead. He is too good to drop

Not so fast. If you want to give up on Hasselbeck, at least trade him away for value.

However, DJax will be coming back right away in week 10 if not this week. The Seahawks offense will only stuggle temporarily. You might want to hold on to Hasselbeck. Brees is a good backup, but I would hate to pin all my hopes on him.

No way that you just outright release him. He actually played real well last week against a decent pass defense. Once he gets his confidence back, he should be a force. Bench him for now but keep an eye on him late. He was a monster down the stretch last year.

What he said... The Dude does not abide this move, and The Dude knows what he's talking about - he owns Brees, Hass and Penny.
