Anyone made the playoff after starting 1-7?

Postby RyanK » Wed Nov 03, 2004 6:13 pm

4 teams make the playoff in my leauge, weeks 16 and 17. the top 4 teams in first are 7-1, 6-2, 5-3, 5-3... is there any chance I can make the playoffs with a 8-7 record? and has it been done before?

incase you were wondering my team is 3rd in points.. and i lost last week 119-118 with a 40 point lead going into monday nights game.. thats how my lucks been all season

I'm sure its possible but not likely b/c its almost impossible to go from 1-7 and win 8 straight!

Ehh, I don't know man... it'll be REALLY tough. You'd have to somehow pin down the middle-of-the-pack teams AND not faulter for the rest of the year. Good luck.

This is my 19th year blowing brain cells on fantasy football...

in all those years of various leagues and a multitude of situations...Ive never seen a team make the playoffs after a 1-7 start.... but its always possible

best I can offer ...is one year, a 2-6 team snuck into the fourth and last spot of the playoffs with a 10 team league....finishing 8-7

Nothing is impossible, but my suggestion is cut your losses and make some draft pick trades before the deadline.

Is it a keeper league?

Ever the optimist, let me try to give you a little reassurance...

Your playoff prospects actually could depend on your league size, and how sucky the other teams. For instance, if all the other teams are in the mid-zone win/loss range (i.e., 4/4), and there aren't any playoffs locks, then maybe, just maybe, you could pull it off.

So optimisticly, the only way is if:
1.) the other teams suck
2.) you have points comparable to everyone else (you just happened to get outscored on your games thus far)

What you'd be shooting for in this instance is for you to get into a tied win/loss category for the 4th playoff spot and win because of points. So... what's your league win/loss schedule look like?

i have
but it was a sucky league. 8 teams in the league, all 8 made the playoffs.
kinda pointless, if you ask me :/

Not impossible, but winning 7 straight requires a lot of luck, and luck hasn't really been on your side so far this season :-/
