It's a sham for sure, its exploited the rules. As a commissioner in a league of would be saboteurs, I had to draft my leagues rules with this type of bush league play in mind.

We have set roster limits
2qb/3/rb/3wr/2te/2k/2dst/1flex at any postion
you can place a player on IR (if listed on sportsline as injured and pick someone up at a cost of $5.00 and you cant IR a IR replacement player) I have run a league for 10 years and for the past 7 we have used this system. I find that generate the most money for the league and allows everyone a chance to pick up a player in the case of last minute benchings (i.e. Fragile Fred last week ands Holt? this week.)

What you did was within the rules-but you perverted them to for your own benefit and against the spirt of the game.

It just depends.. If it is already regular practice in your league and you guys have kind of a real scrappy cut-throat type of atmosphere, why not. Everyone knows it goes on and there hasn't been any rule against it.

If it isn't like that, it's out of line.

Just establish if that's how you're going to play the game. Get the whole league involved in the discussion, and do it without accusing the newb of doing anything wrong. Present it as "this may or may not be considered a valid strategy" and explain that if it's something that is going to be acceptible, that you want to know how many times it will be tolerated in a given week. Inform them that you will take part in the same activity if it's allowable, and start by targeting the team that has been sabotaging you.

If you bring it up in a relatively peaceful manner, you can probably express it in a way that will make the rest of the league understand that if everyone is doing what that team is doing, there will be 8-14 fewer decent players on the wire each week. If everyone is doing it, it just makes it part of strategy, and it WILL bite teams, when they drop the wrong person while making a ww claim. Waiver priority value increases.
