Ergh, beat me to it. The 'Cuna actually has a CD or two from 'em and they're not bad...

I never actually bought one of their CDs, but I always liked (and still do) Marcy Playgrounds "Sex and Candy". Wouldn't mind listening to some more stuff from 'em.

Another good band was Big Star - they only made two or three CDs in the 70s... don't know what happened to 'em, but they were good CDs.

The guy you refer to is Gary Numan. He had a string of hits in the UK, but "Cars" was his only hit in the US. I bought his Greatest Hits collection about six years ago, and I love it. If you like "Cars", you'll love his other stuff.

I would exclude The Ataris from your list b/c they aren't one hit wonders. I mean, just because they aren't really mainstream doesn't mean that they are one hit wonders. They have 4 cds out so how can they be one hit wonders...

This was gonna be my mention... that song was so good and then... nothing. They have a few other decent ones. I like "Comin Up From Behind".
