Could Larry Johnson have looked worse?

Postby BeefSandwiches » Sun Nov 07, 2004 11:18 pm

If there was ever any doubt who is Priest's backup (assuming he isn't seriously injured), all doubt was erased today. Larry Johnson does not deserve the playing time he has been crying for. Vermeil's point was proven today - he needs to take off the diaper if he wants to see the field.

10 carries for 21 yards (incl. an 11 yard run???)

:-t :-t :-t

He didn't look bad at all out of the backfield.

He looked absolutely scared shitless on his 2 goalline carries however.

He is in a pretty bad situation. Everyone is all over him, including vermeil. he was setup to fail, and the pressure got to him.

Maybe this will put an end to the ridiculous notion that Priest Holmes is only a product of his blocking/system. The line and system make Priest look better, but Priest makes them look better as well.
Before you take anything I say too seriously, be aware of the fact that Derrick Mason, Cadillac Williams, Reuben Droughns, Jason Witten, and Mike Bell are all on my team this year!

I think Priest is still a product of his system... but he definitely helps... ;-D

Anyways, excuse for LJ taking some of his first carries in the NFL and not doing well. Wow... let's judge the guy on his first chance ever playing in the NFL, and averaging a sloppy number.

...rediculous. Let's let the future tell his story.

Priest and Faulk are the best in the league at setting up blocks.

Larry seriously I believe closed his eyes and ran on his 2 goalline carries -- he ran right in to his own blocker on one of them.

Many people have been saying since LJs college days that he is easily one of the most overrated RBs to come out in years. If you have been listening to the neysayers, his performance was exactly what you thought would happen.

It doesn't do much for me, I still think Priest is a good back, but not nearly #1 in the league. Just because LJ did bad doesn't mean the system is bad... look at what Blaylock did in the only time he saw the field. He's averaging almost 5 YPC (which is more than Priest) and has 4 TD's in what, 3 quarters of a game? And they all came against the #1 run defense in the league at that point.
