Hypothetical Yahoo Scoring Question.

Postby matmat » Mon Nov 08, 2004 8:20 pm

Suppose, for a moment, that Troy Brown had picked off Bulger yesterday, and, suppose further, that he would return it for a TD.

clearly the NE defence gets the points for a pick and the TD, but what about Troy Brown?

say someone had him in the lineup... does anyone have ANY idea as to whether he would get credit for the TD?

He wouldn't unless you were starting him as an IDP. He wouldn't get credited as a WR since he was a def player and that's an off stat.

They would in my league..We get points for anything they do, and if they get points for something different than what they are used for then they get a * asterisk beside the name

I think the player would get the points. I can't say for certain, but consider the following:

Vinateri (spelling?) got credit for a TD pass and Vrabel got credit for a reception, yards and a TD.

This is correct. Yahoo differentiates between different kinds of touchdowns. Unless your scoring system uses IDP's AND has 'Defense Players Touchdowns' as a scoring cat, it will not count for him.

They were on offense at the time.

Are you sure? Offensive players get points for tackels on turnovers and such. I understand that your league would have to use IDP's but you wouldn't have to start Brown on def to score def points, would you?

No. You wouldn't even have an option to start Brown on def. There are NO players that I have found that have dual eligibility with offense and defense positions.
I'm only saying that if 'Defense Players Touchdowns' wasn't chosen as one of your IDP stat cats, you wouldn't get the INT return TD for Brown.
That sufficiently confusing?

as long as you start IDP, Troy Brown would get the TD and INT points. if you dont start IDP, i think he would get nothing special.

i said as long as you start IDP, not start Brown as an IDP.
