Scotsman gave me the detail I was looking for. Mike Ditka was also carried off the field but by hoisting up their defensive coordinator ol' Buddy Ryan, the team made an extra footnote in history. It had never been done and actually until guys like Ryan showed the world that the defensive and offensive coordinators could make or break football teams, all of the attention went to the team's head coach.
