Under 2 minutes, fumbled forwards and you get the ball back! Someone explain this one to me.

the rule is that since GB "recovered" the fumble and it was within the last two minutes the ball had to go back to where it was fumbled, i.e. you can't advance the ball by fumbling it.

It's called the Ken Stabler rule.

A long time ago the Raiders were playing Miami and losing by 5 or so, as time ran out the Dolphins tackled Stabler on the 3yd. line but as he was going down he intentionaly fumbled the ball into the end zone.

A Raider fell on the ball and won the game.

Miami fans were very upset!!!!!!!!!!!

After the season they changed the rule to not allow foward fumbles with less than 2 min. to go.

thats not really the issue. I dont see how that was ruled green bay ball. A viking fell on it in he beginning and a viking came out with it. do the refs have xray vision that can see into the pile?

they blew the call.
the rule they invoked had NOTHING to do with giving packers the ball. The rule stated where they could get the ball, not why or how.

Actually I think the rule came about after the "Holy Roller" incident when Dave Casper (also with the Raiders) fumbled the ball and continued to kick 30 yds (while attempting to pick it up....whatever) against the Chargers
