Best defenses for week 11 - preliminary

Postby 1crzydmnd » Mon Nov 15, 2004 12:58 pm

I hope Plindsey doesn't mind, but I went ahead and ran the defense rankings for week 11. I will update this listing tomorrow to reflect the Monday night game.

Seattle -3061.93
Philly -2668.62
Atlanta -2570.88
Indy -2511.27
Pittsburgh -2508.08
Tampa -2315.73
New York (A) -2315.72
New York (N) -2310.93
Baltimore -2167.86
San Diego -1552.86
New England -1468.14
Arizona -1392.64
Buffalo -1368.56
St. Louis -1319.09
Tennessee -1264.63
Detroit -1200.23
Carolina -1092.67
San Francisco -1040.93
Washington -960.04
Cincy -951.48
Green Bay -912.68
Jacksonville -755.18
Dallas -640.00
Denver -633.21
Minnesota -556.02
Kansas City -469.81
Chicago -245.09
Miami -232.00
Cleveland 99.78
New Orleans 168.59
Houston 264.46
Oakland 859.01

Again, these are based strictly on the numbers from Plindsey's formula and do not take into account any injuries. Indy looks really high...but then again, they are playing Chicago.

Thanks alot for these rankings. I really need them for this upcoming week.

Is there anyway to update the playoff rankings? I know Detroit was #1 for week 16 but based on their recent play, I'm assuming that's changed.

What do you guys think about Indy this week?

Wth the way Manning d the boys have been playing here lately I would say that Chicago would have to go with the passing attack this weekend=turnovers. I can't decide between them or SD vs Oak.

I like SD.

Collins practically gift-wraps 3 INTs per Sunday.

looks like a tough week for those of us playing defenses by the week...most of the top ranked teams should be taken in most leagues...

doh!

I will try and run the defense rankings from week 11 thru 16 either today or tomorrow.

Man your great. Thanks for all the work, and of course thanks to Plindsey for the formula. It really seems to work. I'd be curious to run a regression model on that formula and find it's predictive value (r^2).

I think after the season I may run some regressions on different formula's. I wonder if the predictive value would be higher or lower by taking only the last 4 weeks (it would better reflect recent changes in the team's play maybe due to injuries) or a weighted average using the whole season but with less emphasis on the earlier games.

Believe. Krenzel may have a 3-0 record as a starter, but he was plain awful last week, and now Urlacher won't be playing, which means the Colts are gonna get a lead early and the Bears will be forced to pass a lot. I wouldn't be surprised to see 2-3 INT's for the Colts at least and probably a couple sacks.
