Chicago D vs. IND this wk (return yds counted) - (I'll reply

Hey all,

Just picked up Chicago D off WW.

My only concern is that they face IND high-powered offense this week. I don't expect to get points for holding the IND team under any amount of points. However, Our league starts penalizing defenses for giving up too many points at >31pts (-1 pt and then up every third point scored, etc.) STandard scoring - 1pt per sack, 2 pts per interception, 2 pts per fumble recovered, 6 pts for D/ST TD, etc.

In any event, the only caveat is that our league also awards 1 pt per 10 yds returned for either kickoffs or punts. So, some of the higher scoring defense have been good return teams.
So am I crazy to enter CHI defense into the lineup vs. IND this week? Or should I go with SEA vs. MIA

It would depend on what your other matchups look like. If you have favorable matchups in your QB/RB/WR, I would play Seattle. Otherwise, I might take a chance with Chicago.

I think it would be crazy to play Chicago versus Peyton and company.

He rarely gets sacked, he rarely throws INTs, and he frequently throws multiple TDs.

Considering Chicago's injury-riddled secondary, I would place a strong sell on Chicago D's stock right now.

Actually playing Chcago's Defense in that scoring system might be a good thing.

Here's one projection. Indy scores 6 times (TD's and FG's) so Chicago gets 6 kickoff returns. Multiplied by an average of 20 yards (that's generally the average on kickoffs) and you've got 120 yards. Add maybe 1 or 2 punts and you're looking at a total of about 150 yards, which is 15 points. Subtract 3 points for Indy scoring 40 points and even if Chicago doesn't get any turnovers/sacks you still end the day with 12 points. That's pretty good in standard scoring (not sure how good that is in your scoring). Plus you have the upside of getting a couple long kick returns that could really ratchet up your score.
