I knew I'd be wasting a strong 1st round pick on a unproven RB if I used it on Dom Davis or whatever, so I spent it wisely on Manning.

And Shaun Alexander is a bologna sandwich? I had SA before Portis and LT.

he he he... that'd be a big sandwich. Yes, he was on my list too, before Manning. Sorry, I didn't have the original crib notes in front of me. It was kinda a hypothetical...
Thank God for Football Season.

We have a one-keeper league, in ours you can opt out of your keeper for $25 and get a pick before round 1.

Nine of the ten kept this week. Kept players were:
Priest Holmes
Shaun Alexander
Edgerrin James (mine)
Stephen Davis
Deuce McAllister
Clinton Portis
Ladanian Tomlinson
Marvin Harrison
Michael Vick

The 10th team decided not to keep Randy Moss -- Ricky Williams would have been his keeper if not for his retirement.

I had the 2nd draft in the normal round, now 3rd overall, and hearing that one team had decided to pick ahead was killing me. I figured the first two picks would be the best RBs left on the board -- Ahman Green and Jamal Lewis -- leaving me with a hobson's choice of the next best back (Fred Taylor?), WR (Moss) or QB (Culpepper).

I was stunned when after the no-keeper took Green, the pick ahead of me took Peyton Manning. "Ha! Fool!" I thought.

Well, he's winning his division ... largely based on that one pick.

Me? I got off okay. After he wheeled taking Hines Ward when I swore he'd have to grab 2 RBs in round 2-3, I bit the bullet and took the best RB left, number 15 on my chart... Tiki Barber.

I'm 10-0. =)
